[ARCHIVED] Open House for ADA Transition Plan

Stay Informed

Open House

The City of Forest Lake is hosting an open house to provide information on efforts to complete an ADA Transition Plan. We invite you to attend the meeting to provide your input on the process and identify locations you are aware of that pose barriers to accessibility in pedestrian infrastructure.

What is an ADA Transition Plan?

An ADA Transition plan provides agencies with a framework to bring its Pedestrian Circulation Routes (PCR) and Pedestrian Access Routes (PAR) into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Transition Plans ensure a public entity has a plan and schedule to prioritize activities for the efficient and effective removal of accessibility barriers in the public right-of-way.

ADA Requirements

Under Title II of the ADA, 28 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 35, all public entities are required to perform a self-evaluation of policies, practices, and pedestrian infrastructure programs. Agencies with 50 employees or more are also required to develop an ADA Transition Plan that provides a plan and schedule for the removal of any barriers to accessibility for all individuals.

Attend the meeting to:

•    Gain an understanding of ADA law

•    Provide feedback to help project staff identify locations of barriers to accessibility, which will become high priority for future projects.

•    Connect with the project team to stay informed and further contribute to the process.
