Motorists should be aware of a week-long closure at the intersection of Hwy 97 and 11th Street in Forest Lake.
MNDOT will be closing access to Hwy 97 from 11th Street at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5. for culvert installation.
Hwy 97 will remain open to traffic in both directions. However, you won’t be able to access Hwy 97 from 11th Street. You’ll be directed to follow the posted detours of 15th Avenue, 8th Street to Hwy 97. Access from 11th Street will re-open on Tuesday, Sept. 12, weather permitting.
In addition, single lane traffic on Hwy 97 will continue between Goodview Avenue North and Harrow Avenue.
The closure is part of Hwy 97 safety improvement construction. Crews are converting an existing bypass lane into a dedicated left turn lane at the 11th Street intersection. The project is expected to be complete by mid-October, weather permitting.
Once the work is completed, you’ll experience enhanced safety, better access and traffic flow in the corridor.
